Louisville Vegan Jerky Review

How was everyone’s week? I spent the week working some (my hours have been cut due to the virus), cleaning, and paying lots of attention to my pets. One thing I have been doing a bit more during this quarantine is snacking 😉. One of the snacks I always like to have on-hand is the Louisville Vegan Jerky.

Yes, it’s another soy product, but you’re good after just a few pieces…or at least I am! They do look pretty strange but aren’t hard to chew like meat jerky. I will add that you may have to adjust a bit to this vegan jerky if you are or were used to eating meat jerky because the texture is definitely different. The company has 3 different flavors available at Whole Foods which is where I discovered them. My favorite is the smoked black pepper. They also have Carolina BBQ and maple bacon (it’s not flavored with real bacon). The Carolina BBQ is pretty good, but I don’t care for the maple bacon. It’s a bit too much of a fake taste in my opinion. They do have a couple of other flavors, but they are not available in our area.

Now for the nutrition facts. The sodium is very high but if you’re eating jerky, I feel like you expect that. There is a good amount of protein and no gluten! I also like that they point out its hand-bagged jerky and the story about how the company started is a great touch! It makes you feel inspired that even a mistake can turn out to be something good! 😊
