Hilary’s Apple Maple Meatless Breakfast Sausage Review
Happy Friday! This week’s post is all about Hilary’s Apple Maple Meatless Breakfast Sausage. I stumbled upon these breakfast sausages when I was buying a few things at Whole Foods. I have seen a few different types of Hilary’s burgers, but this was the first time I’ve seen they had breakfast sausages. Even though they are made from soy, I used to eat the Morning Star Farms breakfast sausages. But then, I found that the Beyond Meat breakfast sausages were definitely the best. I was super curious how these breakfast sausages would hold up against the others with being top 12 allergy free. I’ll admit, I was lazy this time and just made them in the microwave. 😂 The outside still did have a crust to them which I liked, but they were a bit mushy for my taste on the inside. They were really crumbly and looked a bit odd when broken apart. The maple flavor came through and was good, but the apple flavor was lost. Overall, I’ll probably still stick with having the Beyond Meat breakfast sausages occasionally, but I’ll throw these in sometimes for a healthier take on breakfast sausages.
Nutrition Facts
As I said, these breakfast sausages are free from the top 12 allergies: gluten free, egg free, soy free, dairy free, corn free, peanut free, tree nut free, coconut free, sesame free, mustard free, sulfites free, and shellfish free. When you consider that, these are pretty good! They’re low in fat, no cholesterol, and only a little sugar. They also have some dietary fiber and protein. Almost all of the ingredients are organic which is great!
Cooking
These breakfast sausages were very easy to make in the microwave. They were cooked for a minute on one side then flipped and cooked for another minute on the other side. As usual, I probably would’ve liked them a bit more in the oven, but I didn’t feel like waiting for the oven to preheat. 😂 Although they would’ve only taken about 15 minutes or so.
Stores
I found the Hilary’s Apple Maple Meatless Breakfast Sausages at our local Whole Foods. Hilary’s brand is also sold at Giant and a few other random stores (Lemon Street Market in the Lancaster, PA area). However, I have mostly only seen the veggie burgers.
Even though I would still prefer the Beyond meat breakfast sausages, these Hilary’s Apple Maple Meatless Breakfast Sausages were still pretty good. I also love that they’re free from so many allergy-type foods and that they’re healthier.
